Building Coaching Conversations from a One-Page Scorecard
A useful coaching scorecard holds five to seven signals. Quality sample score, average handle time relative to the skill median, first-contact resolution or recontact rate, adherence, and one soft skill the floor cares about this month.
Print it. Digital walls help during the day; a paper sheet on the desk keeps the coaching talk focused. Agents should leave knowing one strength to keep and one behavior to practice before the next sample.
Avoid stacking twelve KPIs with traffic-light colors. That layout trains people to defend the red cells instead of discussing the call that caused them.
Run a short calibration with supervisors before rolling a new scorecard. Agree what 'meets' means for your queues. Then schedule the first coaching cycle within two weeks so the form does not sit unused.
